AT LONG LAST… FIXED PRICE QUARANTINE CLEANING IN W.A.
Another Industry First From Freightplus
It’s been a long and sometimes arduous exercise but almost three years after the search started, Freightplus has finally secured the solution it was looking for, in order to address what has been clearly the single most frustrating aspect of importing used mining, earthmoving and construction machinery into WA through Fremantle port – quarantine cleaning. More specifically; the unknown and significant cost of satisfying AQIS’ strict entry criteria and the unknown and significant delays waiting in long queues of machines to work their way through an increasingly congested system.
Freightplus Australia CEO, John Gleeson, says the market has been screaming out for faster, fixed-price quarantine cleaning in Fremantle for years.
“Our customers aren’t asking for anything unrealistic”, says Gleeson, ”they just want to know, when considering a purchase of used machinery in another country, when they can expect delivery at their yard in Australia and what it is going to cost them. Until now – somewhat unbelievably – nobody has been able to achieve this.”
Gleeson and the company’s Fremantle-based Customer Support Manager, Ben McKirdy, took on the challenge. After exhausting almost every possible avenue, the pair finally found a service provider willing to listen. With the invaluable cooperation of Stevenson Logistics’ QAP, the first steps were taken towards bringing fixed-price, fast turnaround quarantine cleaning, to Fremantle.
“It’s been a long time coming in WA but I am delighted that our efforts have paid off.” Gleeson goes on to say, ”What this means is that we can now tell our customers before they purchase a machine, precisely what it will cost to land a machine at their door, and when they can expect to receive delivery. Right now, Freightplus is the only machinery forwarder able to offer its customers this service across the board but, inevitably, our competitors will have to follow our lead and this will ultimately benefit the industry as a whole.”
Freightplus customers shipping through the Australian ports of Brisbane, Port Kembla, Melbourne - and now also Fremantle - can evaluate potential overseas machinery purchases knowing exactly what each machine will cost them landed in their yard and when it will arrive. The company, owned in Australia with offices in U.S.A., Germany, United Kingdom, Japan and Thailand, and an extensive international network, offers comprehensive, door to door transportation of heavy machinery for predominantly mining and civil construction applications.
